I just finished reading The Slow Regard of Silent Things by Patrick Rothfuss. It’s a difficult story to classify and that, I think, is part of its charm. Having come to this via Rothfuss’ as-yet incomplete Kingkiller Chronicles, thus having some familiarity with fragile, resilient, elusive, Auri, this novella, for me, widens the scope of her world while deepening her mystery. I found it relatable and touching. As Rothfuss himself notes, this story is not for everyone. Those it is for, however, will know it.
